Sails Up 4 Cancer

June 18, 2016

I loved doing the Sails Up 4 Cancer event in Mystic, CT this year. I had to just put my mind in a different place, and not think about what these children and their families were going through. So much energy and fun! They had gone for a trip on sailboats earlier, and then came to have lunch and listen to music. This is where I was set up. I worked alongside my best friend, April Brunelle, of April's Balloon Creations. I didn't get pictures of everybody, but they all seemed to have a blast!

The most memorable moment was when a woman sat in my chair, and said she was very happy to just have fun with her son after the stressful things she'd been going through. Her son had cancer, and she had just recently lost her little baby. I couldn't believe the composure she had. She and her son had a great time that day, and they each got their faces painted. Never, ever take life for granted.
